Welcome, to the Judge’s Verdict. We have a fascinating 11-game NBA slate tonight to end the regular season. What a wild ride it has been, so thanks for joining me on it. It has been a true honor to share the NBA DFS experience with each of you.
Here are some of my top tournament plays for tonight’s NBA slate.
Note: The numbers in parenthesis refer to the salaries of that particular player. The first number is the FanDuel (“FD”) salary, while the second number is the DraftKings (“DK”) salary.
We are going to change the format for tonight due to the fact that this slate is pure madness. You have numerous teams resting their best players. Data, advanced analytics, and the normal research techniques that we used all season might not do us a lot of good tonight. So, I am just going to give you my top 4 tournament plays on the slate. Otherwise known as my Core4.
Kemba Walker – We went with Kemba yesterday, and the Cavs were so disgustingly bad – Kemba simply didn’t need to do that much. However, he did better than Curry, right (the evil Warriors find a way to ruin EVERY slate)? Tonight, I will go right back to Kemba in a must-win game versus Orlando. To make the playoffs, Charlotte needs to win and Detroit needs to lose. So, at least we know that effort will not be an issue tonight for Kemba or Charlotte. Orlando is resting guys (but what team isn’t), so a Charlotte blowout concerns me a little. However, I want hungry and motivated guys on the final night of the regular season – so give me all the Kemba tonight. If I wanted to pivot off Kemba for tournaments, I love Fox tonight for the Kings. Sacramento allegedly is going all out to get 40 wins on the season, so I will make sure to play some Fox/Bagley combos (with some Buddy too).
Note: There are elite cheap options at every position. If you want to go Russ (and most will), you can pair him with TJ or Cook.
Aaron Holiday – This is an FD specific play for me due to the beloved dropped score rule. I will use him on DK but not as a core player. The Pacers are locked into the five seed and are resting Sabonis, Bogdan, Wesley, Thad, and Turner. I do not see Collison on the injury report, but I don’t expect him to play either. So, that means the Pacers are missing their entire starting five and top six players. We all know what it’s like to roster Tyreke or Cory Joseph (it’s like stabbing yourself in the eye), so I will take a shot on Holiday and Leaf tonight. Yes, some will be unable to resist the fantasy point per minute and foul per minute monster Kyle O’Quinn too. I have been waiting all year for Holiday to get his chance to shine, and it never really came. Tonight, he is going to get 24+ minutes, and I am not going to miss out on a chance for his upside game. The talent, minutes, and usage will be there tonight. AND – they face-off versus the fantasy gold pace of the Hawks.
Super Mario – I know. I know. I know. Mario crushed our souls yesterday with a mystery illness and a late scratch. The good news is that a lot of us were still able to cash without him due to the nature of these funky slates lately with minimum priced guys dropping 50+. Tonight, Mario is back starting for the Knicks…and once again, he is an elite play IF DSJ sits out. That will be the key news for me to monitor until lock. If DSJ is in, I will not have Mario as a core play (as of now, it appears DSJ will be out, but it’s not official). The Knicks essentially have a 7-8 man rotation with half their team useless or hurt. The Knicks are going to play their tails off tonight to try to keep the Pistons out of the playoffs. Mario will redeem himself tonight by playing 40 glorious minutes. He owes us.
Note: PG13 is currently questionable. Look, if you’re tired and overwhelmed from all the value and odd names on this slate – you can just plug in PG13 and relax.
Drummond – I will not overthink this one too much. The Pistons need to win. Blake is out. Casey has said he will play Drummond 48 minutes if he needs to tonight. Drummond will be one piece of chalk that I will gladly eat. He honestly struggled last night and put up 60+ fantasy points. He plays volleyball around the rim with putbacks and racks up points too easily. He will have 3-4 stretches tonight where he goes on a flurry with putbacks or blocks. I will roster him with full confidence on both sites.
Alright, the Judge’s Verdict is in and it is final. Good luck tonight!
