Welcome, to the Judge’s Verdict. We have a diabolical seven-game NBA slate tonight with some key injury news lingering, so let’s get down to business.
Here are some of my top tournament plays for tonight’s slate.
Note: The numbers in parenthesis refer to the salaries of that particular player. The first number is the FanDuel (“FD”) salary, while the second number is the DraftKings (“DK”) salary. Also, note that we’ve reached the part of the season where for tournaments you might see some names you’re not used to or might make you cringe. This final month of the NBA season is going to get wild on certain nights.
Ryan Arcidiacono (3.5, 3.3)
Yesterday, we had Sato from Washington as our PG – and that was a glorious piece of chalk. I am expecting the same thing tonight from an even cheaper “Anaconda” (on the podcast I never could pronounce Archie’s last name, so we nicknamed him Anaconda.) Lavine is out tonight for the Bulls, so I would expect Archie to get the start and see close to 30 minutes. Anaconda is not an elite fantasy point per minute player (0.72), but the matchup vs. the Lakers is fantasy gold at the PG spot ever since Lonzo got hurt. Plus, at the minimum price, we don’t need much for this play to work out. I am expecting Anaconda to get us 26-30 fantasy points tonight, which is more than enough at his price.
Note: I will be rostering Dunn, Archie, Seldon, Otto, and Markkanen tonight in a variety of lineups. The safest are Markkanen and Otto – I think safe for all formats. The other guys are all worthy of tournament fliers. However, for the sake of this article and our sanity, we’ll limit the Bulls in this article to two.
Wayne Selden (3.7, 3.3)
This might be more of a FanDuel only play for me. I like the idea of playing Archie and Selden together and if one of them busts – I just drop the score. I am not a fan of SG tonight, so I don’t mind punting this spot at all. Selden has been getting decent minutes even with Lavine, so I expect him to see around 28 tonight (with a chance for more). Last game against Detroit seldom used Seldon put up18 points on 14 shot attempts. My strategy and approach with minimum priced guys is pretty simple – just get me 20 fantasy points and allow me to spend up on a star at another position. On DK, I do not envision me using a ton of Archie/Seldon together but on FD, I absolutely think this duo can work.
Giannis (12.0, 11.5)
I am playing the two Bulls bums for a reason tonight, right? It’s so I can fit in my star, Giannis. The Pelicans have a tendency to hang around in games they should get blown out, so I think they can be competitive tonight against the Bucks. Giannis’ minutes are monitored pretty carefully by Coach Bud, but I think that he only needs 30-32 minutes tonight to get us 60+ against this defensively challenged Pelicans team.
Mo Wagner (5.0, 3.3)
I gave you my FD strategy with the Archie/Seldon duo, so it’s only fair I give out a DK play as well. I do not know why Wagner’s price did not rise on DK after his last two games for the Lakers. The tanking has officially begun in LA, and that means a lot of Wagner the rest of the season. He played 34 minutes and put up 22 points and 6 rebounds last game – and the key was that he earned the praise of Luke Walton. Accordingly, there should be no reason that he shouldn’t stay in the rotation and play at least 24 minutes tonight even with Kuzma back. On FD, I am not sure I want to pay the 5K price tag, but on DK – I will gladly pay 3.3K expecting to get around 25 fantasy points.
Probably Zizic…but maybe Joker FD (10.0); Nurk DK: (7.1)
Everyone will probably spend down on Zizic because the entire Cavs frontcourt (Thompson, Nance, Chriss) is out tonight. And I probably will play a ton of him as well. But when most spend down at a spot, I love to spend up in tournaments. Accordingly, Jokic against Minnesota is appealing tonight, and Nurkic is just too cheap on DK against the Clippers. Joker hasn’t looked great as of late, so I don’t mind if you also want to take a shot on a very expensive and banged up Towns tonight (the entire Minnesota team is questionable). On DK, you can build a very nice balanced build avoiding a lot of the bums and traps, including the guys in this article if you want, by plugging in a too cheap Nurk tonight. We’ve made money attacking the Clippers frontcourt all year, so even though the Clippers are playing very well – they will have no answer for Nurk’s massive body tonight
Alright, the Judge’s Verdict is in and it is final. Good luck tonight!
