The Verdict | Top NBA GPP Plays, 3.5.19

Welcome, to the Judge’s Verdict. We have an interesting six-game NBA slate tonight with PG13’ status lingering over the slate. Hopefully, we get that piece of news before lock.

Here are some of my top tournament plays for tonight’s slate.

Note: The numbers in parenthesis refer to the salaries of that particular player. The first number is the FanDuel (“FD”) salary, while the second number is the DraftKings (“DK”) salary.

Steph Curry (9.4, 9.0)

I know Russ is banged up and has looked awful lately, but if PG13 is ruled out – I still will play Russ in all my cash games tonight. However, I think Curry is an elite play tonight too. Without Klay, he sees a 40% usage rate, which is an insane 9% bump. He also averages over 1.64 fantasy points per minute. The Celtics are a mess right now, and even though I expect Marcus Smart to do his best to slow down Curry – he struggles to defend the smaller and craftier guards like Curry. I think the Celtics keep this close tonight, and Curry should coast to an easy 50 fantasy point performance.

Evan Fournier (5.5, 5.4)

Shooting guard is not ideal tonight, so I will gladly plugin Dennis if PG13 gets ruled out. I also might punt the position on FD. However, if we need some safety, I do not mind a very cheap Fournier. Remember, in tournaments, we don’t need 8/9 players who all have massive upside. Fournier has played 35 minutes in his last two games, as Orlando is fighting for that eight seed in the East. He is going to handle the ball quite a bit and take 12-13 shots. I think he stumbles his way to 25-30 fantasy points against Philly, which is perfectly fine at this position.

Kevin Durant (9.7, 9.1)

I mentioned Steph’s usage without Klay, and Durant’s is also very tasty at 39% (8.5% usage bump). I will be unleashing Steph and Durant in a lot of my lineups tonight, and I actually think without Klay – NASA leader Kerr might stagger Curry/Durant’s minutes so they actually get some time on the court without each other. Durant averages 1.53 fantasy points per minute without Klay, so like Steph – Durant should get an easy 50 tonight. I will actually be hoping that the Curry/Durant combo gets me 120 fantasy points tonight.

Mike Scott (4.5, 4.0)

I need some value tonight, so I keep staring at Mike Scott for a banged up Philly team. Embiid and Boban are out and Bolden is questionable. If Bolden cannot play, Scott is going to be forced into 35+ minutes. I don’t expect him to score 22 points and hit six three-pointers like last game, but he is going to space the floor and get wide open threes. He is undersized to defend Vucevic tonight, but Philly just doesn’t have many options tonight. So, I don’t see much risk here as long as Bolden is out. If Bolden plays, we can pivot to Draymond, Marcus Morris (who has been AWFUL), or Saric if you still want value.

Myles Turner (7.5, 5.7)

DraftKings hates Turner tonight, and his prize is absurd. It’s the lowest his price has been since November! Without Oladipo, Turner gets 1.15 DK points per minute and will play around 30 minutes tonight (I hope for a few more). He gets a delicious matchup with the Bulls tonight, who rank in the bottom five in defensive efficiency against centers. I don’t even mind Turner on FD in tournaments, so obviously with the 1.8K price difference, I love the play on DK.

Alright, the Judge’s Verdict is in and it is final. Good luck tonight!
