MLB DFS Batter Breakdown – Rays vs Orioles Pitching – The Quant Edge

We are back. After a nice weekend break, we are back to get your MLB DFS lineups ready for this evenings action. We have a nice little fiv- gamer to get the week started. There’s a ton of offense to choose from since most totals are over 10 and the TQE Line Movement tool is showing at least three and there will likely be more IRT over 5. Warm games in Arlington always steal the show, there’s a great hitting matchup in Cincinnati tonight, but I’ll be enjoying the Rays vs the Orioles Pitching the most. Let’s see who we are targeting on tonight’s action. (with only five games, it will be more of a cliff notes as there aren’t as many cash and gpp options. If you have any questions ask away in the member discord.)

Yasmani Grandal leads the way for the high priced options. The Brew Crew are facing Tyler Mahle tonight and that’s great for LHH as they are hitting .282 with a .372 wOBA and 2.9 HR/9. Pedro Severino has been mashing LHP this season and will get to face Ryan Yarbrough a couple of times tonight after the opener. When going cheaper there is Francisco Mejia or the full blown $2K punt of Jeff Mathis vs Suarez.

First Base

Josh Bell is really expensive in an interesting matchup vs Alzolay but makes for a very nice GPP target tonight. Just an FYI, Alzolay has given up 1 hit in each appearance this season, both a solo home run. Eric Hosmer makes for a nice cash game play tonight vs Samardzija. Shark has been having a rough season and Hosmer is hitting .315 with a .367 wOBA vs RHP this season. A couple of other options in that range are Yandy Diaz and Joey Votto. If looking to punt in a GPP, then Logan Forsythe or Albert Pujols is in play.

Second Base

The top of 2B is loaded with Danny Santana, Kevin Newman and Mike Moustakas. Moose would be my play out of the three as we already mentioned targeting LHH vs Mahle. Brandon Lowe has been struggling of late but is in a great spot for a big night in a GPP vs the Orioles. Scooter Gennett has returned from the IL and has a nice matchup at home tonight vs Adrian Houser. LHH are hitting .292 with a .359 wOBA and a 47% HH rate this season. Scooter makes for a very nice, cheap home run target tonight. If needing to punt, look into Hanser Alberto and Luis Rengifo.

Third Base

Manny Machado has been straight fire and is always in play. Mike Moustakas was discussed at 2B and he’s a great play here as well. But after the top two, it drops off a bit. Yandy Diaz was mentioned above and is in play. Eugenio Suarez is usually a better play vs LHP, but in tonight’s matchup vs Houser at only $4K, he is a very solid play. Colin Moran makes for an intriguing GPP play vs Alzolay, as well has Hanser Alberto

Javy Baez and Manny Machado are very much in play if paying up, but you may not need to tonight. Elvis Andrus is hitting .317 vs LHP this season, with a .340 wOBA and a 46% HH rate. He’s cheaper than the top options and has just as much upside vs Suarez tonight. Willy Adames is sub $4K tonight and is bringing a five-game hitting streak into tonight’s action vs the horrible Orioles pitching. Adames is hitting .318 over that stretch with a .476 wOBA and 5 extra base hits (3 home runs). If punting at SS, then look into Jose Iglesias and Andrelton Simmons

The Brew Crew are in a smash spot tonight, making Christian Yelich a great play, as well as Ryan Braun. The Angels are facing a very good pitcher in Mike Minor tonight, but that doesn’t mean Mike Trout is in a great spot. The Reds vs Houser are oh so nice and that means Nick Senzel, the red hot Yasiel Puig and even Jesse Winker are in play tonight. The Rangers vs Suarez are interesting tonight, including Joey Gallo, Danny Santana and Delino DeShields Jr. The Cubs vs Williams tonight are rather cheap, including Kyle Schwarber and Jason Heyward. So many options tonight, for any others you may be interested in listening into today’s episode of MLB DFS Quick Hits
