MLB DFS Batter Breakdown – Nats taking it to Keller – The Quant Edge

MLB DFS Batter Breakdown – Nats taking it to Keller – The Quant Edge

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July and is ready to get back at it with an interesting 13 game slate tonight. There are currently 12 team totals over 5 with a few over 6 for tonight’s action according to the TQE Line Movement tool. It’s gonna be a wild night with the chalky Red Sox in a great matchup, the sneaky DBacks in the desert, the Nats taking it to Keller and much much more. Let’s see who we are targeting for tonight’s action with the MLB DFS Batter Breakdown.

There are actually some decent options at the catcher position tonight. If paying more than $4K, you have the red hot Christian Vazquez in Detroit or even Chance Sisco vs Aaron Sanchez. Sisco has really got it going since his call up and is hitting .271 with a .434 wOBA vs RHP this season. When going a bit cheaper, it’s pretty simple….ride the red hot bat of Danny Jansen, who double donged last night and just continues to crush it of late. A few other options would be Jason Castro or punt with John Hicks and Jeff Mathis.

First Base

Cash- On the season, Zach Davies is giving up a .290 average with a .360 wOBA and a .500 SLG, making Josh Bell an even better play than he usually is other nights. Matt Adams has homered in three of his last four starts and faces Brad Keller tonight, who gives up a .325 wOBA and a 38% HH rate vs LHP this season. Michael Chavis has hit safely in seven of his last eight games for a .303 average and 7 extra base hits, he’s in a great spot tonight in Detroit. If punting, there are two really nice options with Justin Smoak and his teammate Rowdy Tellez vs Dylan Bundy tonight.

GPP- Pete Alonso and Freddie Freeman are nice high priced targets. But, if saving a few bucks, Hunter Dozier is sneaky nice tonight vs Voth. On the season, Dozier is hitting .300 with a .401 wOBA vs RHP and will be severely low owned tonight. Yusei Kikuchi has been horrible this season and will face Mark Canha, who hits LHP with a .344 wOBA and 36% HH rate. If punting, check in on Ryan Zimmerman, Nate Lowe or Chris Davis, who has really good numbers vs Aaron Sanchez.

Second Base

Cash- Lourdes Gurriel Jr and Ketel Marte lead the way atop the 2B position. Both swinging powerful bats in outstanding matchups. But, when it comes to cash 2B, then Jeff McNeil may be the guy for you. McNeil is riding a four-game hitting streak tonight (3 multi-hit games) with 3 extra base hits and faces Velasquez, who in his career has struggled a ton vs LHH. Adam Frazier and Jose Altuve are two great, cheaper cash game targets at 2B.

GPP- Steven Brault is giving up a 61% HH rate to LHH this season and Mike Moustakas will be happy to greet him his .281 average and .389 wOBA this season vs LHP. Cavan Biggio is an on-base machine with good pop and will be batting in the middle of the Blue Jays order vs Bundy tonight. Very solid, affordable GPP play. Ozzie Albies hit one on top of the Chop House last night and will face Yamamoto tonight, who has yet to be cracked, thus making Albies a GPP play and not a cash game play. Kike Hernandez is also in play tonight vs Eric Lauer.

Third Base

Cash- Not sure if you’ve heard about this before, but Rafael Devers is very good and in play tonight. But, if you want to pivot off of Devers, I am totally on board with Anthony Rendon vs Keller. Rendon is hitting .400 over his last five games with 3 home runs. Eduardo Escobar is also in play, showing just how solid yet expensive the top of the 3B position is tonight. For me, it’s Rendon, Devers and Escobar in that order. Alex Bregman has hit safely in four of his last five games and is in a solid matchup vs Pena tonight if looking to save some from the names above. But, when it comes to cash, if you pay up for pitching, then you will need some savings. In this order, I like Colin Moran, Josh Donaldson and Justin Turner.

GPP- The top priced guys mentioned above are obviously in play, but there are plenty more at this deep position. Matt Chapman has a .359 wOBA and a 47% HH rate vs LHP this season, welcome Yusei Kikuchi. Hunter Dozier is an option here as well as 1B. Manny Machado is still very cheap in a tough matchup vs Kershaw tonight but in play. Jake Lamb hasn’t done much since his return from the IL, but tonight, he faces Senzatela and in Lamb’s career, he’s hit .268 with a .353 wOBA vs RHP. Mega punt with Lamb. Vladimir Guerrero Jr is also very much in play vs Bundy tonight.

Cash- Xander Bogaerts has hit safely in seven of his last eight games where he’s hitting .313 with a .390 wOBA and often gets overlooked in the BOS lineup, yet he bats third. Great for cash games. Dansby Swanson, Jorge Polanco and Alex Bregman all make solid mid $4K cash game targets. Freddy Galvis is hitting .463 over his four-game hitting streak with 3 multi-hit games and 3 home runs. Solid spot vs Bundy tonight. Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas are two other cheap options.

GPP- Trevor Story has owned Zach Greinke in his career and he’ll look to continue that trend tonight. Marcus Semien is entering tonight on a seven-game hitting streak where he has a .375 wOBA over that stretch. This season, he’s also hitting .304 with a .362 wOBA vs LHP, welcome Kikuchi. Nick Ahmed also makes for an intriguing GPP play tonight.

Cash- The Nationals are in a smash spot tonight and that puts Juan Soto near the top of the list. The Brewers and Pirates could score a lot of runs tonight and some OF targets would be Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun, Ryan Reynolds, Corey Dickerson and Starling Marte. The Red Sox are going to be very popular tonight and that starts with Mookie Betts, JD Martinez and JBJ. Max Kepler, Nelson Cruz and Byron Buxton all have a fit tonight vs Sampson. The DBacks are ready to go tonight vs Senzatela, look into Marte, David Peralta and Adam Jones. The Astros are in a good spot tonight so look into Springer, Yordan Alvarez and Brantley.

GPP- With the Padres facing Kershaw that makes Renfroe, Franimal and even Wil Myers GPP viable. The Rockies vs Greinke leaves Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl strong GPP plays. Depending on who the A’s put out there tonight there may be a few options like Canha, KRUSH and Laureano. On the Mariners’ side, don’t sleep on Mallex and Domingo. The Braves have an interesting one vs Yamamoto so keep Ronald Acuna Jr, Austin Riley and Nick Markakis on your minds. Vinny V is either really good or really bad, don’t forget about Michael Conforto. Jorge Soler is a sneaky double dong candidate vs Voth tonight.

Top Stacks- WAS, BOS, AZ, ATL, OAK
