What a Friday night we had. Runs galore and some really solid pitching. It’s always nice when some of the main plays in the Batter Breakdown hit, especially the YOLO plays like Cheslor Cuthbert. As fun as last night was and as close as it was to the nuts, we move onto Saturday. We have a 3 game early, a 7 game midday and a 5 game main. As usual with slates like these I’ll be giving bats for the 7 game and 5 game slate instead of strictly cash and gpp. There are many ways to go today. The Giants can go big on back to back nights, the Braves stay red hot and much much more.
Early- Nick Kingham makes his first start with the Jays today and that puts a streaking Christian Vazquez in play. Over his last 7 games played he’s hitting .375 with a .406 wOBA and 2 home runs. Chance Sisco at $3200 is in play vs Bautista after coming off a 2 hit game last night. Tucker Barnhart and if starting Mike Zunino make for some cheaper options behind the plate.
Late- Wade Miley has been good this year, but that has been much more so at home than on the road. He’s also usually better vs RHH than LHH, but that hasn’t been the case this season. This year on the road vs RHH he’s giving up a .275 average with a .333 wOBA and over 1 HR/9. The Yankees are mashing, have one of the highest totals on the slate and should be popular…..insert Gary Sanchez. Brian McCann will look to keep it going vs Anibal Sanchez. Robinson Chirinos and Stephen Vogt make for a couple other options tonight.
Early- LHH have a .352 wOBA and a .455 SLG vs Spencer Turnbull and Carlos Santana has hit safely in 15 of his last 16, homering in his last 2. Santana and the Indians will be strong plays today. While Santana is more cash you can go to Dan Vogelbach vs Cashner in GPPs. Vogelbach has hit safely in 4 of his last 5 and always has that big home run upside. Eric Hosmer and Joey Votto both make less than flashy but stable cash game plays today. A couple others would be Matt Olson in a GPP vs Chirinos and Ji-Man Choi at only $3600 vs Mike Fiers.
Late- Freddie Freeman has hit safely in 5 straight where he’s hitting .400 with a .510 wOBA. He faces Anibal Sanchez this season who has given up a .374 wOBA and 2.6 HR/9 vs LHH this season, making Freeman a really solid play tonight. Edwin Encarnacion is 7 for 19 with 2 doubles and 3 home runs vs Miley in his career, he’ll look to add onto that tonight. LHH are slugging .519 of Mike Foltynewicz this season with 2.4 HR/9 and a 40% HH rate, Matt Adams is an intriguing GPP play. Brandon Belt, Ronald Guzman and Matt Beaty are all cheap punts that are in play tonight.
Early- In a small sample this season (but similar results in previous seasons) RHH are raking vs Red Sox lefty Brian Johnson. Lourdes Gurriel Jr has been swinging it well since his return from the minors and overall this season has hit LHP well. On the season he’s hitting .280 vs LHP with a .386 wOBA and a near 49% HH rate. Gurriel and many of the Jays are in play tonight. Derek Dietrich and Mike Moustakas could be GPP plays if you want to get risky. Brock Holt’s price tag continues to climb (we’ve been riding brock when it wasn’t even cool) and is a cash game play vs Kingham. Brandon Lowe, Jason Kipnis and Jonathan Villar all make really really good cheaper plays at 2B to save some cash.
Late- Ozzie Albies has been on a heater this month, hitting .338 in June with 12 extra base hits and will look to keep that going today vs Sanchez. Gleyber Torres has now homered in 3 straight games, has hit safely in 4 straight and is a nice play vs Miley tonight. DJ LeMahieu makes for a cheaper, cash game piece of the Yankees action. Rougned Odor did Odor things again yesterday, going deep and proves why he’s once again a cheaper GPP target. You can also punt with Brian Dozier or a really cheap Joe Panik as the Giants will be some nice value again tonight vs Godley.
Early- Scott Kingery continues to rake but is pricey and Rafael Devers is DTD. Both really good plays, but both really really expensive. Manny Machado has some nice success vs Chris Archer in his career, hitting .300 (15-50) with 2 home runs. He’s also on quite the hot streak hitting safely in 9 straight games with a .474 average and 5 home runs. Is Jose Ramirez finally getting it going? It’s a little bit of yes and no. He’s hit safely in 7 of his last 8, but is only hitting .265 with a .316 wOBA. He’s cheap today and is in play vs Turnbull, even a little cash game worthy. Vladimir Guerro Jr is a cheaper GPP options while Kyle Seager is a cheaper cash game play.
Late- Anthony Rendon is in play once again, I know shocker. But going a little cheaper lock and load with some Yoan Moncada. Yes, Lynn has been very good of late, but a combo of Moncada’s streak and the outstanding hitting conditions tonight make Moncada a very good GPP play. 3B is loaded tonight as you can get really contrarian with Alex Bregman or Josh Donaldson. There’s also a super contrarian Nolan Arenado who homered last night and has hit .579 (11-19) off Ryu with 3 doubles and 3 home runs. 3B is loaded up top but not a ton down below, you can look into Asdrubal Cabrera in a GPP but it may be a position to pay up for tonight.
Early- We start the position once again with Francisco Lindor who is hitting .312 in June with a .380 wOBA and 11 extra base hits. He’ll look to control the Bull today. Manny Machado is obviously in play at SS as well as 3B. If you aren’t paying up to 1 of these 2 then I’d be looking to punt with the likes of Jonathan Villar, Jose Iglesias, Dylan Moore or a ridiculously cheap Willy Adames.
Late- Trea Turner and Elvis Andrus are in play but are pricey. When looking cheaper you can target Gleyber Torres and Alex Bregman who were discussed above. If going cheap though you have a way too cheap Didi Gregorious who hits lefties really well or even a sub $3K Brandon Crawford.
Early- The Reds will be sneaky today but roll back with Nick Senzel (check lineups as he left late in last night’s game) and the streaking Yasiel Puig who is hitting .370 (10-27) with a home run vs Chacin. Gurriel Jr and his Jays teammates Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk make for nice GPP plays. You can definitely jump back on the Red Sox train with Betts, JD, JBJ and Benintendi. The Indians vs the Bull is fun with the hot Oscar Mercado but also some savings with Jake Bauers and Tyler Naquin. Lastly, Tommy Pham is on fire right now and you can even mix in Austin Meadows, Avisail Garcia and Kevin Kiermeier.
Late- The Dodgers are facing the youngster Lambert tonight making Cody Bellinger and Joc Jams really solid plays. Heck maybe even some value with Beaty and Chris Taylor. The Rangers are very much in play again tonight starting with Choo, Santana and Nomar Mazara who hit a 505’ home run last night. You can go with the DBacks usuals vs Beede and get some savings with the Giants outfielders vs Godley. The Nats are in a great spot tonight vs Folty and give me all the Juan Soto.
Early- TOR, TB, BAL, CLE, SEA, OAK, SD
Late- ATL, LAD, WAS, TEX, SF
