DRAFT Rankings for the NFL Conference Championships
Rank Player POS TEAM Notes
Damien Williams RB KC Has taken over Kareem Hunt’s former role. He saw 25 carries last week in the cold against the Colts, and there’s no reason to expect much fluctuation in another frigid game.
Alvin Kamara RB NO Mark Ingram hasn’t eaten into his production this season, and against a defense that likes to funnel short passes, he should have plenty of work in the passing game.
Michael Thomas WR NO Had a good outing against the completely overmatched Eagles secondary (12/16 171yds. and a TD). I like Drew Brees at home, and Thomas should see another high-volume game.
Tyreek Hill WR KC I want Tyreek’s upside at WR in DRAFT, even in a cold game. His big-play ability is too much to ignore in a playoff game and with so few options at WR this week.
Todd Gurley RB LAR The RB job in L.A. has become a time-share with C.J. Anderson, and he seems to be playing through an injury. He’s still a dangerous back and on DRAFT, C.J. is buried with a five-point projection.
Julian Edelman WR NE He’s good for at least 15 points every week and cold weather isn’t going to affect the Patriots. He missed out on a TD last week, but his 9/13 for 151 yards was good for 20 fantasy points against the Chargers.
Travis Kelce TE KC Kelce should see plenty of work as Mahomes’ security blanket in what should be a tough game against the Pats. With receiving options thin this week expect to take your second WR/TE option early.
Patrick Mahomes QB KC Mahomes is going far too early this week to bother drafting. His lack of a passing TD against the Colts is concerning; Belichick is the final boss of playoff defensive schemers. If you have to have him, he’s a top 3 pick.
Sony Michel RB NE Three TDs last week inflated his bottom line of 32.2 fantasy points, but the 24 carries for 129 yards were very encouraging. I love him as a RB2 option this week, but I don’t want him carrying my running game at RB1.
Drew Brees QB NO While the Chiefs and Patriots are slugging it out in the freezer, the Saints will be playing at home with the air-conditioner on. He works as a fourth-round option, as you’ll want to nab him a round early.
Brandin Cooks WR LAR Revenge playoff game for Cooks, and he did well against the Saints in the regular season with 114 yards. and a TD.
Robert Woods WR LAR The Rams passing game is going overlooked, but it’s an indoor game against a mediocre pass defense. He should see softer coverage than Brandin Cooks which makes him a solid WR2 on DRAFT this week.
C.J. Anderson RB LAR The risks with taking C.J. this week are that he can lose his carries at any time and the Saints have an excellent rushing defense; 20+ carries are worth it, though.
James White RB NE He had 17 targets for 97 yards last week, so there’s no doubt about his role in the passing game. With Gronk a shell of his former self, expect White to suck up most of Tom Brady’s dump-off passes.
Tom Brady QB NE I’m giving the edge to “Playoff Tom Brady” over Jared Goff. He’s going to throw 40 times and he’s easy to stack with Edelman and White as a contrarian play against the Chiefs.
Jared Goff QB LAR Goff is a tough play to recommend this week, but he does have game-script upside along with the benefit of playing indoors. He is also easy to work with if you’re looking to stack the indoor game and missed Brees.
