DRAFT Rankings for Super Bowl Sunday
Rank Player POS TEAM Notes
Sony Michel RB NE Michel has been rock-solid as the No. 1 back in New England in the playoffs, with 53 carries for 142 yards and 5 touchdowns in two games.
Todd Gurley RB LAR Gurley was so bad against the Saints that people were/are speculating about his health. McVay is also hinting at a larger role for him heading into the Super Bowl, but that sounds like misdirection to my cynical ears.
Julian Edelman WR NE I’ve been harping on this for most of the season, but Edelman just keeps cranking out ~15 fantasy points a week like clockwork and I expect another solid, if unspectacular, performance in the Super Bowl.
Brandin Cooks WR LAR Revenge game of sorts for Cooks, but ranking him here is all about his big-play ability in the biggest game of the season. Oddly enough, Cooks, Edelman and Woods have combined for zero TDs in this post-season.
C.J. Anderson RB LAR Looked ordinary against the Saints, but New Orleans also had the best rushing defense this year, so he’s my ride or die at RB2. He should work as a handcuff to Gurley or a foil to Michel in the Super Bowl.
James White RB NE This pick is more of a toss-up between White and Burkhead, than a straight ranking. I like White’s consistency in the passing game over Burkhead’s TD-reliant fantasy production in the Super Bowl.
Robert Woods WR LAR The WR1B on a team that should have a passing game-script. Roughly the same fantasy productions as Cooks throughout the season, but Cooks gets the nod over Woods of me based on overall talent.
Rob Gronkowski TE NE This looks like the last hoorah for Gronk’s NFL career and I expect Brady to make a special effort to get him the ball. Eleven targets last week, so there’s more to his projected production besides narrative.
Tom Brady QB NE In this week’s H2H’s just pick your QB last. The fantasy production in a toss-up, and there are bigger holes to fill. I give Brady the slight edge, but the Pats have been scoring on the ground this playoff season.
Jared Goff QB LAR In a battle of sub-20 point QB’s (Brady and Goff have combined for 3 TDs), there’s not much upside to taking a QB off of the board first – so get used to taking a lot off Goff while Brady goes early.
