Batter Breakdown – Vladito flying high in Coors

Batter Breakdown – Vladito flying high in Coors

What a wild 15 game slate we had last night. Runs, runs and more runs, that’s the story of baseball this season. Today we have a fun 5 game slate starting at 4:05 pmEST and an 8 game main starting at 7:15 pmEST. 2 nice slates and you’ll get all your batters here. Instead of the usual GPP/Cash look I’ll be using Early/Late. If you have further questions check out the member discord and ask away. When looking at the LINE MOVEMENT tool on TQE we already have 5 IRT at 5 or higher (half the teams) for the early slate and only 2 of the 16 teams on the late slate. One of those totals is the Blue Jays and it will once again be Vladito flying high in Coors. Time can change but it will be worth monitoring the difference in the totals as the day goes on. Now, lets see who we are targeting at the plate in today’s Batter Breakdown.

Catcher

Early- Nick Kingham is giving up a .368 BA, a .478 wOBA and 2.8 HR/9 to LHH this season and this makes Yasmani Grandal a nice option to pay up for behind the plate. This season RHH are hitting .299 with a .454 SLG and a 39% HH rate vs Daniel Norris this season making Tyler Flowers a target at only $3500. Buster Posey is facing David Hess today and makes for a good cash game target coming off a 12 point DK game last night. Lastly, Tucker Barnhart and Martin Maldonado are 2 other cheaper options you can target.

Late- Jorge Alfaro is $4200 tonight and hitting in SD isn’t always the best thing, but, he’s getting the return of LHP Nick Margevicius tonight. This season Alfaro is hitting .300 with a .352 wOBA and a 52% HH rate vs LHP, not to mention he’s been red hot of late. You have Tony Woiters in COORS and Jonathan Lucroy vs Tommy Milone as some other cheaper options.

First Base

Early- In Erick Fedde’s career LHH are hitting .296 with a .493 SLG and a .367 wOBA. Derek Dietrich is absolutely crushing it and is in play for your GPP early builds. If Eric Thames cracks the Brewers lineup he becomes a good play vs Kingham with his 51% HH rate vs RHP. Brandon Belt is a nice value today vs Hess in Camden vs Hess. Matt Adams makes for a good target as he’s facing Tanner Roark who is giving up a .311 average .398 wOBA and 38% HH rate vs LHH this season. The punt play would be jumping on Joey Votto vs Fedde.

Late- Cole Irvin makes his return to the bigs tonight and will be greeted by the Dodgers. Cody Bellinger will definitely be in play if paying up tonight. Another high priced target would be Justin Smoak in COORS vs Jon Gray. Gray is giving up a .470 SLG and a 43% HH rate vs LHH this season. Daniel Murphy in Coors vs Stroman is in play as well. Going cheaper you can go with Paul Goldschmidt in a GPP vs Quintana who’s giving up a .415 SLG and 1.4 HR/9 to RHH this season. Yuli Gurriel has been quiet of late but he’s $3400 tonight vs Brett Anderson.

Second Base

Early-  Dietrich is also 2B eligible and is in play. The other high priced target is Mike Moustakas vs Kingham. It’s a very small sample on the season but LHH are hitting .310 with a 45% HH rate vs Shaun Anderson this season which makes Jonathan Villar interesting. Rougned Odor at only $3700 vs Homer Bailey is definitely a GPP play and due to price point alone is almost cash worthy as well. Your punt play is Nicky Lopez at only $3100 vs Lynn.

Late- You can definitely go back to Coors with the likes of Ryan McMahon, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, Eric Sogard and Cavan Biggio. But outside of Coors we have a couple options. Max Muncy vs Irvin is in play as Muncy has a .532 SLG, .357 wOBA and a 46% HH rate vs LHP. A couple sub $4K options would be Kike Hernandez vs Irvin and Luis Rengifo vs Milone.

Third Base

Early- Once again Moustakas is eligible at 3B as well and worth considering. There are a couple other high priced targets in Austin Riley (vs Norris) and Eugenio Suarez (vs Fedde). If you need cheaper 3B options you can go Pablo Sandoval vs Hess or Asdrubal Cabrera vs Bailey for now, but looks like a spend up day at 3B.

Late- Nolan Arenado and Vladito (only $4100 is just dumb)  are definitely in play tonight in COORS but don’t sleep on Rafael Devers in your GPPs vs Domingo German. German has been great this year, but Devers is swinging a hot hot stick. He has an 11 game hitting streak where he’s hitting .380  with a .480 wOBA and 9 extra base hits. Alex Bregman isn’t swinging the hottest stick these days, but has a great matchup vs Brett Anderson tonight. Sub $4K, you have Brian Anderson vs Margevicius and Gurriel vs Anderson.

Shortstop

Early- With the Texas IRT almost to 6 Elvis Andrus is in play. He’s been a bit quiet of late but facing Homer Bailey never hurts. This season RHH are hitting .320 off Bailey with a 51% HH rate. Jonathan Villar has SS eligibility and is worth considering. Dansby Swanson is a bit pricey, but he is hitting .349 this season vs LHP with a .535 SLG and a 45% HH rate. If looking for punts at SS target Brandon Crawford or Jose Peraza.

Late- Well you definitely start with Trevor Story and hope for at least half of the damage he did last night. Tim Beckham is GPP viable vs Heaney as we know how well Beckham loves smashing LHP. Luis Rengifo is punt viable, but the rest of SS is super GPP risky tonight.

Outfield

Early- Christian Yelich is an elite play once again as he takes on Kingham. The Rangers are going to be popular today, and they should be. Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara, Shin-Soo Choo and Hunter Pence are all in play as we’ve already shown how good lefties and righties hit vs Bailey. I said it on QH that Juan Soto was a great play yesterday and he homered. He’s been white hot of late and faces Roark today in Great American Small Park making him a really solid target again today. You’ll have the Braves in play vs Norris, so target Ronald Acuna and Austin Riley, but don’t forget Nick Markakis who hits very well vs LHP. If Ben Gamel is leading off for the Crew then he becomes a cheaper option in the outfield. Jesse Winker, Mike Yastrzemski and DJ Stewart are other cheaper options.

Late- We are locked and loaded as expected in the outfield. In COORS you have a heating up David Dahl with Raimel Tapia. On the flip side don’t sleep on Randal Grichuk and especially  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Mike Trout facing Tommy Milone is a smash button spot. We have Cody Bellinger, Kike Hernandez and Chris Taylor in play with the Dodgers. Marcell Ozuna has hit LHP really well over his career and could be in a nice GPP spot vs Quintana tonight. Mitch Haniger facing off with the lefty Heaney is in play.

Stacks (in order of use)

Early- MIL, TEX, ATL, CIN, BAL, SF, WAS, KC

Late- COL, TOR, LAD, HOU, LAA, MIA. Note- there are a lot of aces on the mound, if you want to get weird here are the stacks and if you have player specific questions ask away- NYY, AZ, BOS, PHI, NYM, OAK
