Wow!!! That pretty much sums up the chaos that was MLB DFS last night. Talked about it on Quick Hits yesterday that it would be an offensive palooza with all the high projected totals and the TQE Line Movement tool agreed. Tonight we have a 12 game slate with some interesting weather situations, but some overall great places to target bats. One of the most intriguing spots will be the Brewers bouncing back tonight. Let’s see what bats we are targeting in tonight’s Batter Breakdown.
If paying up at catcher tonight, just jump back on board with Yasmani Grandal vs Alcantara. This season when on the road, lefties are hitting .305 vs Alcantara with a .398 wOBA and a 1.8 HR/9. If going to save some cash at catcher then go down to Robinson Chirinos vs home run prone Mike Leake, Matt Wieters vs DeSclafani or dip your toe back in the Pedro Severino well vs Minor.
Cash- Matt Carpenter is starting to get it going at the plate. He’s hitting .318 over his last 12 games with 4 home runs and a .437 wOBA. Tonight he faces DeSclafani who’s giving up a .321 average vs LHH this season with a .431 wOBA and a 3.2 HR/9!!!! Carpenter is in a great spot tonight. If looking for some other cash options Josh Bell is in a great spot vs Gausman or Freddie Freeman vs Musgrove.
GPP- There are some really nice GPP options tonight at 1B. Anthony Rizzo is at home where the conditions are quite hitter friendly tonight, but is facing German Marquez….something has to give. Going in that same game you can ride the hot hand of Daniel Murphy who’s hitting .429 over his current 5 game hitting streak with a .470 wOBA. Two cheaper options would be riding the hot streak of Garrett Cooper vs Nelson or Matt Olson vs Bedrosian/Pena.
Cash- Going back to my love for the Brewers tonight and give me all the Mike Moustakas vs Alcantara. If you don’t want to pay up top then save some cash and target Jeff McNeil vs Beede or Tommy La Stella vs Mengden. If going full punt then target Tony Kemp who homered last night and is facing Leake who’s giving up a .340 wOBA and 2 HR/9 vs LHH this season.
GPP- Last night we rolled with Javy Baez (who now has 20 or more DK points in back to back games) and we will go back tonight. It’s a tough matchup vs German Marquez, but the GPP potential is HUGE. A couple other GPP targets would be Michael Chavis vs Junis, Derek Dietrich vs Hudson or Brandon Lowe vs Turnbull.
Cash- You can go Mike Moustakas at 3B again, but the top cash play at 3B tonight is Rafael Devers. Over the last 14 games Devers is hitting .333 with a .419 wOBA and 10 extra base hits. If going cheaper in cash you have Matt Carpenter vs DeSclafani, Marwin Gonzalez vs Carrasco or Brian Anderson vs Nelson.
GPP- Austin Riley is basically playing at a cash game level but tonight’s matchup is GPP relevant vs Joe Musgrove. Since his call-up Riley is hitting .329 with 9 home runs and a .445 wOBA. Riley is even hitting .308 with a .379 wOBA vs RHP this season. Other GPP targets are Matt Chapman vs Bedrosian/Pena, Colin Moran vs Gausman or Evan Longoria vs Vargas.
Cash- Elvis Andrus is facing John Means tonight and that could be really nice news for Andrus. On the season he’s hitting .298 vs LHP with a .326 wOBA and a 49% HH rate. Another solid option in cash is Francisco Lindor who is really good vs LHP, obviously double donging last night. This season Lindor has a .358 wOBA and a 41% HH rate vs lefties. Some cheaper options are Amed Rosario vs Beede and a punt of Brandon Crawford vs Vargas.
GPP- Jorge Polanco is a bit pricey but is part of one of my top stacks of the day vs Carlos Carrasco. This season LHH are slugging .570 vs Carrasco with a .370 wOBA, 2.5 HR.9 and a 44% HH rate. Carrasco has been a mess and Polanco and the Twins will look to keep flexing their muscles tonight. Some other GPP options are Dansby Swanson vs Musgrove, Logan Forsythe vs Means or Paul DeJong vs DeSclafani.
Cash- Christian Yelich and the Brew Crew lead the way tonight in cash. When looking elsewhere give me all the Austin Meadows and some of the Rays vs Turnbull. Mike Trout obviously makes the list with Mengden and don’t sleep on Shohei Ohtani and Kole Calhoun. Mookie Betts and JD Martinez are cheaper than usual vs Junis and don’t forget their teammates Benintendi and JBJ. Michael Conforto could be a cash one off vs Beede. With Mike Leake going don’t sleep on Michael Brantley, Straw, Kemp and most importantly Derek Fisher.
GPP- When paying up top it’s about Eddie Rosario and Max Kepler vs Carrasco and don’t forget the value of Marwin Gonzalez. Starling Marte, Bryan Reynolds and even Gregory Polanco are GPP options vs Gausman. Austin Riley and definitely Ronald Acuna are solid looks vs Musgrove. Thornton has been good off and on this season making Aaron Hicks and Clint Frazier as interesting options in your GPP builds.
Top Stacks- MIL, MIN, TEX, HOU, BOS
Cash- TEX, HOU, MIL, BOS
GPP- ATL, NYM, PIT, STL, MIN, MIA
