Back to today’s action. We have a nice six-game slate to get us back in the weekly groove. There are two teams I’ll be all in on and sprinkle in some bats from other spots. Let’s see who we are targeting for tonight’s action with today’s Batter Breakdown.

Catcher

It’s pretty simple for me tonight. I feel like paying at catcher. You can go all the way to the top with the red hot Mitch Garver or his teammate Willians Astudillo vs Tyler Skaggs. This season, RHH have hit Skaggs well with a .452 SLG and a 42% HH rate. Astudillo was just activated from the IL and led off yesterday, going 1 for 5 with a double. Garver is hitting .474 with a .789 SLG and a 48% HH rate vs LHP this season. Both Twins are in play. The other catching option I like a lot tonight is Omar Narvaez of the Mariners. Narvaez has three straight multi-hit games which include a double and 2 home runs. He faces Mike Fiers tonight off his no-no and we will attack away with the Mariners. If you don’t want to pay up it’s all about waiting for lineups and seeing what punt catchers come out.

First Base

Cash- There are two cash plays I’ll be targeting tonight, oh, and shocker they come from the Twins and the Mariners. CJ Cron put up an O’fer on Sunday, but prior to that was raking. Not to mention he loves him some LHP. This season, Cron is hitting .365 with an .818 SLG and a 203 wRC+. He’s been hitting them and hitting them with authority. If not Cron in cash, then it’s all about Jay Bruce, who has never been an average guy but brings a .525 SLG and a 42% HH rate vs RHP intro tonight’s action.

GPP- It comes down to some possible punts at 1B tonight and we have two that fill that GPP hole. You can target Yonder Alonso coming off a Sunday home run, super cheap vs Shane Bieber. When you want to attack Bieber it’s with LHH since he’s giving up a .397 SLG and 40% HH rate this season. If you want a slightly safer cheap GPP target it’s all about Marwin Gonzalez that has finally decided that it’s cool to hit baseballs. He’s been batting in the middle of the Twins order lately and has been getting it done. Marwin has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games. Over that span, he’s hitting .400 with a .514 SLG and a 55% HH rate.

Other First Base Options- Rhys Hoskins, Niko Goodrum, Edwin Encarnacion

Second Base

Cash- Ketel Marte heads into Monday night in an outstanding matchup vs Nick Kingham tonight. Marte is slugging .400 with a 48% HH rate vs RHP this season. He’s also hit safely in four of his last five, hitting .333 over that stretch. He’s a great piece of a DBacks stack and brings some nice cash stability tonight. If you are looking to not break the bank at 2B, then Jason Kipnis and Shed Long make for some value targets in cash.

GPP- We can have some fun in GPPs tonight. The Brewers may be one of the bigger upside GPP plays on the slate. If you look at their team history vs Nola, it’s much better than many would think, not to mention hitting in good old Citizen Bank tonight. Mike Moustakas is a very very intriguing GPP play tonight. This season, LHH are hitting .333 vs Nola with a .576 SLG and a 24% HR/FB. Moustakas could easily find the seats tonight. The cheaper GPP target is definitely Mr. Swipe Right himself, Chad Pinder. We love Pinder vs LHP. This season he’s hitting .308 with a .487 SLG and a 45% HH rate vs lefties. Kikuchi isn’t your average LHP, but that’s what makes it very GPP relevant.

Other Second Base Options- Jonathan Schoop, Yolmer Sanchez

Third Base

Cash- We already talked about Willians Astudillo who is definitely an option here, but there’s one more. Eduardo Escobar is a really really solid cash gameplay today. Over the last 10 games, Escobar is slugging .431 with a 30% HH rate and that may not sound like much but he brings a solid floor to the table. In Kingham’s short career he’s struggled vs LHH. Lefties are hitting .295 with a .601 SLG, .408 wOBA and a 36.4% HH rate.

GPP- GPP wise we already discussed Mike Moustakas, but there is another one I like tonight. Jose Ramirez has been dreadful this season, not hiding that. He has an intriguing spot tonight vs Reynaldo Lopez. This season, LHH are raking vs Lopez, hitting .362 with a .588 SLG, a .444 wOBA and a 38% HH rate. On the season, Ramirez is hitting .199, but since May 1st he’s hitting .244 with a .366 SLG and a 44% HH rate. Things are heading in the right direction for JRam and he’s got a major upside spot tonight.

Other Third Base Options- Yoan Moncada, Alex Bregman, Matt Chapman

Shortstop

Cash- Eduardo Escobar fits the mold here as well, but there are a few other options at the always deep SS position. Francisco Lindor has hit safely in seven straight games and eight of his last nine. Over those nine games, he’s hitting .351 with a .459 SLG, 39% HH rate and is stealing bags. He brings a really solid floor into play tonight for your cash games. The other cash target is a value play that is money. He’s had 5 or more DK points in his first three games. He was raking in the minors and has been hitting at the top of the Mariners lineup. J.P. Crawford is one heck of a value cash game play tonight vs Fiers.

GPP- Tim Anderson is definitely in play vs the Biebs tonight, especially in GPPs. But if you want to save some cash and aren’t already punting with Crawford or even rolling Lindor, then check in on Marcus Semien vs Kikuchi. This season Semien is hitting .317 with a .463 SLG and .377 wOBA. Again, it’s risky vs Kikuchi, but it does have some nice upside,

Other Shortstop Options- Jorge Polanco, Carlos Correa, Ronny Rodriguez

Outfield

Cash- Some of the top cash game targets in the outfield tonight reside in Arizona, David Peralta is one of my top plays. Peralta has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, hitting .378 with 5 extra base hits and a .649 SLG. His teammates Jarrod Dyson and Ketel Marte make for nice cash additions as well. Other cash targets are Jay Bruce vs Fiers but don’t forget Mitch Haniger and Domingo Santana, as RHH hit just fine vs Fiers. Some value in the OF for cash you can look at Leonys Martin, Odubel Herrera and BRYCE HARPER!!!!!

GPP- Christian Yelich is that full on YOLO GPP play tonight. He’s super high priced and faces Nola tonight, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Yelich improved on his 7-18 with 3 extra base hit history vs Nola. I really like the lefties vs Kingham, but Adam Jones makes for a great GPP play and contrarian angle to the stack. Some other GPP plays include; Shohei Ohtani, Andrew McCutchen, Christian Stewart and KHRIS DAVIS!!!!
