Batter Breakdown 4/6

Batter Breakdown 4/6

We have a nice little Saturday of MLB DFS action on tap. A 6 game early slate and 6 game main slate. The 6 game main slate will be discussed in the member Discord chat and feel free to @ me in there with any questions. The Batter Breakdown will cover the 6 game main slate. The first Batter Breakdown with Coors on the agenda. Luckily there are some other really nice spots to pivot off Coors if you choose to be different. Friday night was a huge night for the Batter Breakdown and Quick Hits, so let’s see what we have in store tonight.

Catcher

Cash- If you are one to pay up for catcher, then Gary Sanchez is your cash game catcher tonight. Sanchez already has 3 homeruns on this short season. He’s squaring the ball up so well with a 38.9% barrel rate already and a 50% hard hit rate. Sanchez has the pleasure of facing Dylan Bundy tonight and that makes him a very very nice cash game play tonight.

GPP- There aren’t a lot of great cheaper options, but for GPPs tonight we will target Jorge Alfaro. Alfaro has a ton of swing and miss in his swing, but at the same time some really really hard contact. So far this season he has a hard hit rate of 54.5% and last season a HH rate of almost 45%. When Alfaro makes contact it’s usually loud. Since we will want to spend up at other positions we can use Alfaro as a punt, GPP option at C.

Other Catcher Options- Yasmani Grandal, Brian McCann, Blake Swihart

First Base

Cash- I am going to do my best not to use Coors at every position (but most are in play as usual), but at first base it’s all about the Belli Bomb. Cody Bellinger has been on an absolute tare to start the season. Belli is hitting .417 with 6 home runs already. He has an awesome 14.8% barrel rate and a 51.9% HH rate. He’ll be in Coors on Saturday and will face John Gray who last season had a 21.5% HR/FB rate vs LHB. Bellinger may be one of the top plays tonight.

GPP- Greg Bird is a name I never I would write this season, yet here we are a little over a week into the season. Bird should be hitting in the middle of the Yankees order tonight vs Mr. Long Ball Bundy. Bird, similar to Alfaro above, isn’t hitting for a high average. But when he does make contact is loud with a 55.5% HH rate. In 2018 Bundy had a .399 wOBA and a 1.9 HR/9 vs LHB. Bird may just be the Word tonight.

Other First Base Options- Max Muncy, Luke Voit, Jesus Aguilar, Mitch Moreland, Trey Mancini, Christian Walker

Second Base

Cash- Jose Altuve will be the table setter in a nice Astros stack tonight. He’s been getting on a scoring runs for the AL champs. He’ll be facing Aaron Brooks who is coming off a solid first start, but hasn’t been that good in his short MLB career. In his short career RHB have hit .345 with a .420 wOBA. Enjoy Altuve as a nice cash game target tonight.

GPP- Jonathan Villar is off to a nice start to the season with a .333 BA, 2 home runs and a steal. He’ll be facing lefty J.A. Happ who in his career has had some struggles vs RHB. The second base position isn’t very solid tonight and makes for a very intriguing GPP play.

Other Second Base Options- Ketel Marte (REALLY SOLID GPP TOO), Starlin Castro, Chad Pinder

Third Base

Cash- We head back to Coors field (sorry) and roll with Max Muncy. Muncy has had a good start to the season but seems slow since he’s been sitting most of the time vs LHP. No need to worry about that tonight as he will face John Gray. He’s coming off a 3-4 game on Friday with a triple and a homer. Muncy should be in line for another nice evening in Coors.

GPP- Matt Chapman is a very intriguing GPP option vs Wade Miley tonight. It’s an interesting battle of splits. Miley has some really nice reverse splits and pitches much better and limits home runs to RHB. On the flip side Chapman has a career .345 wOBA, .188 ISO, 11.5% HR/FB and over a 40% HH rate vs LHP. The rubber will meat the road in Houston and I like Matty Chapman as a GPP play tonight that should go really low owned.

Other Third Base Options- Nolan Arenado, Alex Bregman, Rafael Devers

Shortstop

Cash- I will be going back to the Carlos Correa well tonight. On Friday I wrote about Correa as an option, how great his HH rate has been and that his health looks great. Well, he went deep for the first time this season and put up 16 DK points. We’ll be going back to Correa tonight vs Aaron Brooks.

GPP- Many would say Trevor Story isn’t a GPP play since he’s in Coors, but let’s be real. He will be facing Walker Buehler tonight. Buehler is not slouch on the mound. Heck many have picked him as a sneaky CY Young pick this season. Story has underperformed this year, especially when looking at his early Statcast data and the xStats. There are signs to some positive regression coming and hopefully tonight he adds to that 3 home run total as a GPP play.

Other Shortstop Options- Corey Seager, Javier Baez, Jonathan Villar, Marcus Semien, Orlando Arcia

Outfield

Cash- So many options tonight, so I’ll mention some here without a ton of “in depth” for me coverage. You can go to Coors and look at Joc Pederson as a really solid look vs Gray. Aaron Judge and maybe a little Clint Frazier vs Dylan Bundy. Lastly, a more under the radar option in Nick Markakis vs the youngster Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara was great his first start but also is known for having control issues. If those issues come back that would make Markakis and other Braves some solid looks.

GPP- I will look to go back to the Brew Crew well with Ryan Braun and Lorenzo Cain. We know how good those 2 are vs LHP. We detailed it on Friday and they crushed. Last season RHB had a near 44% HH rate vs RHB and his season debut wasn’t good with a 54.5% HH rate. Hamels was good vs RHB early in his career, but the last 3 the decline has been there. The Brew Crew is in play again tonight.

Other Outfield Options- Mookie/J.D., Blackmon/Dahl, Kyle Schwarber, Stephen Piscotty, Ketel Marte, Joey Rickard, Adam Jones (TOO CHEAP AGAIN!!!!!)

Stacks

Cash- Coors is the most obvious play here, especially the Dodgers. Target the lefties in Bellinger, Muncy, Joc, Seager and others. Sprinkle in some nice RHB with Turner and Kiké. If the likes of Alex Verdugo cracks the lineup he will give some nice salary relief. Most of the lineup is in play and we can break it down later in the Discord chat.

GPP- The Rockies side of Coors will be the contrarian, GPP way to go tonight. But we’ll go outside of Coors here and go back to the Brew Crew. They are white hot right now and will face Cole Hamels who got shelled in his opener vs the Rangers. The RHB of Cain, Braun and Aguilar are definitely in play. The bats of Yelich are always in play. You can look at Grandal and his switch hitting power. And then don’t sleep on Hernan Perez and Orlando Arcia who is coming off a monster Friday. There are a lot of ways to build this stack or look for someone offs in a great spot tonight.

Other Stacking Options- Red Sox, A’s, Astros, Yankees, Braves, Orioles
